Gene Langlois in his garden

Gene Langlois in his garden, originally uploaded by elfhaiku.

Mapeton Mobile Home Park resident Gene langlois completes the spring digging of his garden. Behind him you can see the structure of the retrofit-mobile home project that is currently ongoing. Gene has been living in the Park for many years; is a massage therapist, master gardner, Reverend, and community activist. Gene was among those who spearheaded the effort among park residents to form a community organization when the original park owner, Lou Nuttall, decided to sell. Now, Thistle community housing owns the land and park operations are overseen by the residents. Gene's efforts are an important reason why the Mobile home park continues to exist and continues to serve those with affordable housing needs in the middle of Boulder.
